Free-tailed bat temporary tattoo and prickly pear cactus flowers! Hand-drawn with black lines and stippling. The full design and wingspan measures 6" x 2.5".
This design was inspired by the Mexican Free-tailed Bats that live in cave colonies around Texas. Austin is known for the huge plumes of bats that fly out at once from under congress bridge in the evenings, and people travel from all over to witness the spectacle. The bats are an absolutely essential part of our ecosystem, gobbling up many millions of insects (each catch a few thousand per night). Mosquitoes, flies, and moths are not the only snacks they're interested in–bats are also pollinators! There are even some cactus flowers that rely on bats for pollination, which is why this design also features two symmetrical prickly pear cactus flowers that can be cut out or worn as is beneath the bat.
